Joana Ricarte is Integrated Researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (CEIS20) of the University of Coimbra and Coordinator of the BA in International Relations of Piaget Institute in Viseu. She is also Associated Researcher of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies (CCP) of the University of São Paulo (USP) in Brazil, Advisory Board member of the Organisation for Identity and Cultural Development (OICD) in the UK, and elected Governing Board member of the European International Studies Association (EISA). Joana is currently a Principal Investigator (PI) in several research projects, including OppAttune – Countering Oppositional Political Extremism through Attuned Dialogue: Track, Attune, Limit, funded by the European Commission through Horizon Europe program.

Joana is the author of the book The Impact of Protracted Peace Processes on Identities in Conflict: the case of Israel and Palestine, published open access by Palgrave Macmillan and co-editor of the book Memory, Trauma and Narratives of the Self: an interdisciplinary approach, published by Edward Elgar, in which she is the author of the chapter “Historical memory, cultural violence, and conflict: the genealogy of dehumanization in Israel and Palestine” discussing the current war in Gaza.

Joana Ricarte, Coimbra Üniversitesi’nin Disiplinlerarası Araştırmalar Merkezi’nde (CEIS20) Entegre Araştırmacı ve Viseu’daki Piaget Enstitüsü’nde Uluslararası İlişkiler Lisans Programı Koordinatörüdür. Aynı zamanda Brezilya’daki São Paulo Üniversitesi (USP) Barış ve Çatışma Çalışmaları Merkezi’nin (CCP) Araştırmacı Üyesi, Birleşik Krallık’taki Kimlik ve Kültürel Gelişim Örgütü’nün (OICD) Danışma Kurulu üyesi ve Avrupa Uluslararası Çalışmalar Derneği’nin (EISA) seçilmiş Yönetim Kurulu üyesidir. Joana, şu anda Avrupa Komisyonu tarafından Horizon Europe programı aracılığıyla finanse edilen OppAttune – Karşıt Siyasal Aşırılığı Uyumlu Diyalog Yoluyla Karşılamak: Takip Et, Uyum Sağla, Sınırlamalarını Belirle gibi birçok araştırma projesinde baş araştırmacı olarak görev yapmaktadır.

Joana, Palgrave Macmillan tarafından açık erişim olarak yayımlanan Protracted Peace Processes on Identities in Conflict: the case of Israel and Palestine adlı kitabın yazarı ve Edward Elgar tarafından yayımlanan, kendi yazdığı “Tarihi Bellek, Kültürel Şiddet ve Çatışma: İsrail ve Filistin’de İnsanlıktan Çıkarma Soykütüğü” başlıklı bölümde Gazze’deki mevcut savaşı tartıştığı Memory, Trauma and Narratives of the Self: an interdisciplinary approach adlı kitabın eş-editörüdür.
